The 'Keuzegids Hoger Onderwijs' (Options Guide for Higher Education) for 2016 has awarded the Bachelor's in Mathematics at the UvA the title of 'top programme'. The Keuzegids states: 'Almost all universities offer a thorough mathematics programme, but the best can be found at the University of Amsterdam and in Groningen.'
Satisfaction with the number of contact hours is a general characteristic of mathematics programmes. Almost all mathematics programmes also score above or well above average in terms of content. The fact that mathematics is not an easy subject is demonstrated by the pass rate after the first year, which is not very high. Nevertheless, the workload is usually manageable.
A total of 404 Bachelor's programmes were rated. According to the guide, Wageningen University is once again the best university in the Netherlands. The Keuzegids assesses higher education institutions on the basis of study success statistics, expert opinion and student ratings, among other factors. Over fifty programmes were awarded the title of 'top programme'. Technical, science and green programmes score particularly well.
The Keuzegids assessment of Master's programmes will be published in February 2016.
