  • Profile

I work as a postdoctoral researcher on the NRO (The Netherlands Initiative for Education Research) granted project: The role of resilience and future time perspective in teachers’ and students’ dealing with stress and self-regulated learning. Currently, I'm developing a web-based intervention for adolescents in the Netherlands to reduce their school stress and increase learning.

Prior to this, I have worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam on the 'Wonderfull education' project led by dr. Anders Schinkel. This project explored the importance of wonder in education and how wonder in education can be assessed.

I completed my Ph.D. in 2018, entitled: "Driven by the future: The role of future time perspective across life domains and cultures". My Ph.D. was under the supervision of professors Dr. Thea Peetsma (Research Institute of Child Development and Education) and Dr. Annelies van Vianen (Psychology Research Institute). The aim of this interdisciplinary project was to meta-analytically explore the motivational construct Future Time Perspective (FTP) across education, work, and health domain, and integrate it with the Regulatory focus theory to test the model of adolescent study/career decision-making. In addition, I investigated how FTP is conceptualized, and how it affects adolescents' study/career decision-making in countries where the future is more uncertain because of the economic turbulence and recent wars (i.e., Serbia and Croatia). In 2018, my Ph.D. dissertation was awarded Cum laude.

I'm interested in the topics related to motivation for learning, well-being, and the importance of arts in education and growth. I value interdisciplinary and international collaboration. Also, I love music, to ride my bike, and to improvise meals for my family and friends.

I worked as a lecturer in Personality psychology  (Erasmus University Rotterdam), Micro-processes at school and learning, Youths’ school adjustment in educational settings (University of Amsterdam), Early childhood education (Vocational High school for Teachers, Serbia), and as a research assistant in Pedagogy and Educational Psychology (University of Novi Sad, Serbia). Also, I enjoyed working as a music teacher, and as a designer and evaluator of educational programs and materials in museums.
