The Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) has awarded a Veni grant worth up to 250,000 euros to 154 researchers who have recently obtained their doctorate. Michael Walter (KdVI / IoP) received a grant for his project entitled "Quantum bits in space and time".

Physicists have recently discovered clues that space and time are held together by quantum entanglement, the mysterious resource that powers quantum computers. Walter will develop theoretical tools to subject these ideas to stringent tests and shed new light on the fabric of space-time.

About the VENI grant

The Veni grant provides highly promising young scientists with the opportunity to further elaborate their own ideas during a period of three years. A total of 1,127 researchers submitted an admissible research project for funding. 154 of these have now been granted.
