After one year of absence, the KdVI Evening of Music was back again. Last Thursday almost 100 people found their way to the Oosterkerk in Amsterdam to enjoy an evening full of music played and sometimes even composed by math - students and staff.
The evening, organized by master students Hanna Doedens and Pieter van Niel and PhD student Mariska Heemskerk, once again showed that math and music are closely connected. All performances witnessed a very high level; piano and violin, guitar, vocals and a real string quartet with a composition of Paul Dekker, one of our master students.
A new element this year was that other creative contributions were also welcome. Samira van der Loo recited her poems, Maris Ozols displayed his pictures and Jolien Oomens displayed a couture dress she made.
The creativity of math - students and staff was impressive and therefore calls for a new edition of the Evening of Music next year!
