The UvA team ‘Mückenheim Transfinity’ has won the 14th edition of the National Interuniversity Mathematical Olympiad (LIMO). The team of the University of Amsterdam consisted of Mike Daas, Wouter Rienks, Siebe Verheijen and Koen Doodeman, students of the Bachelor's programme Mathematics. It is the first time that a team of the UvA wins the LIMO.

The LIMO is a mathematics competition where the best students from Dutch and Belgian universities battle with one another in teams of four, tackling all sorts of problems from all kinds of branches of mathematics. In this edition of the LIMO a total of 31 teams participated, and 6 of the teams came from the UvA.

Just ahead

The team Mückenheim Transfinity received on Friday 18 May  72 of the 120 points to be gained – ending just ahead of the numbers 2 and 3 from Nijmegen and Utrecht, who gained 71 and 70 points respectively. The remaining UvA teams ended on the (shared) 6th, 9th,  16th, and 23rd place.
