An NWO KLEIN-1 grant worth up to € 350,000 has been awarded to Arnoud den Boer for his project on self-learning price algorithms that learn to form a cartel. In the project, one PhD student will be involved.
Arnoud den Boer

Subject of the project

Whether such self-learning price algorithms exist is an unresolved question, but legal scholars agree that algorithmic collusion is undesirable (clearly) but also, in some circumstances, not forbidden by anti-trust law. The goal of this project is to investigate the existence of such colluding self-learning algorithms.

About the NWO KLEIN grants

KLEIN grants are intended for realising curiosity-driven, fundamental research of high quality and/or scientific urgency. The KLEIN grant offers researchers  the possibility to elaborate creative and risky ideas and to realise scientific innovations that can form the basis for the research themes of the future.
