Bachelor education in mathematical sciences is conducted by researchers from the KdVI. This way, a close connection between research and education is created from the beginning.
For more information about the bachelor's programmes in mathematical sciences see:
At the end of each academic year a project festival is organized, during which students give a short presentation of their projects and theses.
International Mathematics Competition for University Students
Every year, the KdVI sponsors a team of around 10 mathematics students, who travel to Blagoevgrad in the summer to take part in the international IMC competition. The UvA team has performed remarkably well in recent years. In 2018, the UvA team won 2 gold, 5 silver and 2 bronze medals and 2 honourable mentions. In the team ranking, the UvA ended in 27th place in 2016, in 14th place in 2017 and 17th in 2018.
Young Talent Awards in Mathematics
The Royal Dutch Society of Sciences (KHMW) annually puts up encouragement awards for students in mathematical science. Students can be nominated for incentive awards and graduation awards. The awards ceremony takes place in November in Haarlem.
