As mathematical research on any particular topic is typically conducted by a relatively small number of people worldwide, collaboration between institutions is paramount to achieving scientific breakthroughs. At KdVI we value our partnerships and collaborations, both with other research institutes at the University of Amsterdam, as well as with other institutions in the Netherlands and abroad.
The KdVI has formal (and informal) collaborations with the Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica (CWI), the VU University Amsterdam, and with Eurandom in Eindhoven. Within the UvA we participate in the String Theory Group, together with the Institute of Theoretical Physics.
In the last decade several Dutch research clusters in areas of mathematics were granted by the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO). The KdVI participated in the successful applications for the NWO research cluster Geometry and Quantum Theory (GQT), in which members of our research programme Algebra, Geometry and Mathematical Physics participate, and the research cluster Stochastics - Theoretical and Applied Research (STAR), in which members of our research programme Stochastics participate. Members of our institute also participate in two other NWO research clusters: NDNS+ and Diamant.
KdVI is a partner in the Dutch Platform for Mathematics (PWN). PWN comprises, among others, the Dutch research school for mathematics and the Mastermath programme, which offers mathematics courses at the Master's level for all universities in the Netherlands.
