Stacey Jeffery's previous research has delved into various facets of quantum computing and theoretical computer science. Notably, she has made significant contributions to quantum walk algorithms and other techniques for designing quantum algorithms. Her research has shed light on the power and limitations of quantum computing, paving the way for further advancements in the field and enriching our understanding of quantum information processing and its implications for computational tasks.

As a professor by special appointment at the UvA, Jeffery will continue her research in quantum algorithms, working closely with colleagues at the KdVI, particularly within the discrete math and quantum information research unit.

Jeffery will teach a Masters course in advanced quantum algorithms in the new Quantum Masters.

Stacey Jeffery got her PhD from the University of Waterloo’s Institute for Quantum Computing, in Canada, before doing a postdoctoral fellowship at the institute for Quantum Information and Matter at Caltech. Since 2017, she has been a Senior Researcher at CWI, where she has held a Veni Grant and currently holds an ERC starting grant. She will stay affliated with CWI as a Senior Researcher for four days a week.  Jeffery is also a member of Qusoft, the Dutch research center for quantum software & technology, a collaboration between CWI and the University of Amsterdam (UvA). Last year she won the first Quantum Delta NL awarded, along with Julia Cramer, for their work in confounding WIQD (wiqd.nl), a network for women working in quantum computing in the Netherlands.
