Patrick Forré has joined the Korteweg-de Vries Institute for Mathematics (KdVI) on June 1st 2025 as an associate professor and as the group leader of the stochastics group.

Before joining KdVI, Patrick was an associate professor for machine learning at the Informatics Institute (IvI), also here at the University of Amsterdam (UvA). There he became the lab manager of the AI4Science Lab, where he supervised several PhD students in different collaborations with the other science institutes and related to the development of artificial intelligence techniques to solve scientific data problems. Before joining IvI, Patrick received a PhD and a habilitation in mathematics from the University of Regensburg in Germany. Patrick's research interests focus on foundational aspects of probability theory, statistics and causality, uncertainty mitigation in machine learning and the use of AI for scientific discovery. Patrick is always looking out for new collaborations and enjoys discussing joined research projects. If this is also of interest to you, please reach out to him.
