General Mathematics Colloquium

The General Mathematics Colloquium is a biweekly colloquium on Wednesday afternoon, 16:00-16:45 hour for all staff from KdVI. Speakers are from other Dutch (mathematics or mathematics related) institutes or from abroad, as well as from the KdV Institute itself. In particular, guests from abroad who are staying at the KdV Institute are invited to lecture in the colloquium.

The colloquium forms an outstanding platform for the lecturers to disseminate new developments to the institute in all branches of mathematics as well as surveys of mathematical methods that are currently en vogue. The organizers are Krystal Guo, Eni Musta and Jeroen Zuiddam.

Arithmetic and Algebraic Geometry Seminar

The Arithmetic and Algebraic Geometry Seminar, organised by Lenny Taelman, Arno Kret and Mingmin Shen, is devoted to new developments in algebra, geometry and number theory with also a large emphasis on the education of PhD students.

Representation Theory Seminar

This is a seminar organised by Eric Opdam and Jasper Stokman. The representation theory seminar meets on an irregular basis. If you would like to receive e-mail announcements of upcoming talks, please send an e-mail to Jasper Stokman. The talks are also announced on the website of the seminar.

WAYTA Seminar in Representation Theory and Mathematical Physics

The What Are You Thinking About? (WAYTA) Seminar is a biweekly in person mathematics seminar held at the Korteweg-de Vries Institute for Mathematics in Amsterdam focusing on representation theory, mathematical physics and related areas. It is organised by Valentin Buciumas and Mikhail Isachenkov and Jasper Stokman. The goal of the seminar is to allow researchers at or near the KdVI to discuss their most recent research interests, or give introductory talks about topical research areas. If you are interested in giving a talk in the seminar, please contact one of the organizers.

The Amsterdam Math-Physics Colloquium

This colloquium is organised by Miranda Cheng twice a year.

Numerical Mathematics Colloquium

The Numerical Mathematics Colloquium takes place on an irregular basis.
Information can be obtained by contacting Rob Stevenson.

Amsterdam Applied Probability Seminar

This weekly seminar is a collaboration between KdVI and CWI. Talks take place on Thursdays from 11.00-12.00h in room F3.20 (unless otherwise announced).

Anyone interested (students, employees, etc.) is encouraged to join the audience. Announcements of upcoming talks are send out through email (subscribe via spip.meetings@gmail.com) and appear on the SPIP meetings website. Note that SPIP stands for 'Science Park Informal Probability' - the seminar used to exist under this name to stress that we meet to learn from each other's expertise in a safe and friendly environment.

Sven Karbach (KdVI)

The Bayes Club

The Bayes club is an informal, bi-weekly meeting of researchers in the field of Bayesian statistics. Although the interest is general, most of the presentations concern subjects in mathematical statistics, such as non-parametric priors and the asymptotic behaviour of posterior distributions. Our aim is to exchange ideas, to present our work/research and to discuss other developments in the field. Meetings are held on Fridays, 16:00-17:00h, at KdVI, UvA, Science Park, Amsterdam. For further information please contact Bas Kleijn.
